Lady Dawgs are region champions

The ECI softball team swept Calvary last Tuesday to win their fourth straight region championship.
Seniors Allana Hooks, Jada Downer, Rebecca Fordham, and Baylee Moseley will graduate with four region championships, which is a first for ECI for a senior class.
The football team seniors have a chance to match that record this year, having won the region from 2015-2017.
The Bulldogs won the first game of the series 10-3 and took the second game, run ruling the Cavaliers 18-4 in six innings.
Emilee Tabor started the first game for the Bulldogs, holding Calvary to just four hits while striking out six Cavaliers.
Zera Edenfield started the nightcap, scattering eight hits with four strikeouts, giving up just 2 earned runs.
After a scoreless two innings, the Bulldogs struck four runs in the bottom of the third inning on three doubles by Tabor, Hooks, and Moseley, and singles by Ansley McQuaig and Edenfield.
Calvary made the home team nervous, plating three runs of their own in the top of the fifth inning with a narrow 4-3 ECI lead.
The Bulldogs matched the three runs in the bottom of the inning to make the score 6-3 and got a lot of breathing room in the sixth inning with 3 more runs to make the score 10-3. The defense held the Cavs in the top of the seventh inning to take the win in the first game.
Picking up multiple hits in the game for ECI were Hooks with 3, and Edenfield, Moseley, and Makayla Clifton with 2 hits each.
