On Tuesday, September 11, Swainsboro’s Sons of the American Legion Squadron #103 will erect a memorial wall in honor of all fallen emergency response employees from Emanuel County who were killed in the line of duty since the county’s enchartment. The 4-sided will be divided into four groups, EMS employees, fire services, and law enforcement. The fourth side will memorize those personnel who died in 911 incidents. This side, the fourth side, will display a piece of the Twin Towers, obtained by SAL Squadron 103 members of the New York Fire Department in remembrance of that tragic day.
The Swainsboro Squadron also plans to include all emergency responsive persons by honoring them with installed pavers around the center of the monument. Pavers will contain names and times of service for each person.
A dedication for this memorial will be held Tuesday, September 11, at 6 p.m.
All donations and contributions for the EMS/Fire/Police memorial wall or the purchase of pavers are tax deductible. For additional information, contact SAL Commander Henry Thompson at 478-331-0320, or Adjutant Al Lawson at 478-237-7025.
