East Georgia State College’s Annual Convocation is just around the corner. At 11 a.m. on September 13, 2018, join EGSC’s students, faculty and staff at the Luck F. Gambrell Center’s Auditorium on EGSC’s Swainsboro campus as guest speaker Will Storr discusses his book, Selfie: How We Became So Self-Obsessed and What It’s Doing to Us.

The selected Convocation text, Selfie, is an in-depth study of selfie culture, tracing it to the self-esteem movement of the 1980s and 90s, and going as far back as Ancient Rome, through the Christian Middle Ages, and to 1908s California, the rise of the “selfie generation,” and the era of hyper-individualism in which we live now.

In addition to speaking at Convocation, Storr will be at EGSC – Statesboro on Wednesday, September 12 at 1:30 p.m. for a Meet the Author event and book signing. Refreshments will be served. EGSC-Statesboro is located at 10449 US Highway 301 South in Statesboro.

Copies of the book are available for checkout in the EGSC Library.

Don’t miss this great event and special chance to hear from the author of Selfie.
