Washington to be featured at St. Paul/Noah’s Ark A.M.E. annual revival

   Members of St. Paul/Noah’s Ark A.M.E. Church in Summertown invite the public to join in its annual revival, slated for August 20 through August 22. Service will start at 7:30 pm. nightly.  Visiting churches will include Coleman Chapel A. M. E., First Baptist of Stillmore, Fort Grove, Green Grove, Johnson Grove, Batts Grove, New Mount Moriah A.M.E., Piney Grove, Robert’s Grove, Rountree Island, Smith Grove, St. Galilee, Greater St. James, and Brinson Rock Baptist. The guest speaker for the 3-night revival will be Emanuel County native Rev. Richard Allen Washington Sr., son of the late Rev. Walter Washington and Mattie Hodges Washington of Columbus.

   Washington is a third generation A.M.E. minister and an itinerant elder in the Sixth Episcopal District. He received a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and English at the University of West Georgia and a master of divinity from Turner Seminary of the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta. Washington is currently pursuing his doctorate degree.
   In addition, he serves as a trustee board member of Turner Seminary of the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, advisory board chair of the board of directors for Covenant Counseling Center, and adjunct faculty member of Beulah Heights University. His interest is community collaboration with for-profit and nonprofit organizations, mentoring African American males in grades kindergarten through fifth, and transitional communities.
