Virgil E. Soles, 84

Funeral services or Virgil E. Soles, 84, of Scott were held Thursday, August 23, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Olive Church of the Nazarene in Wrightsville with Pastor Timothy W. Tharp and Reverend L.T. Logue officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. He died on the evening of Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at his home.
Mr. Virgil E. Soles was born in Johnson County to the late Willie Delmus and Mattie Hudson Soles. He was a lifelong resident of the Scott/Johnson County area and worked for many years as a residential building contractor and part-time barber at his home. Soles was a longtime member of Mt. Olive Church of the Nazarene. His family recalls his love for fishing and playing pranks on family and friends. He was one to walk fast and never procrastinate. In addition to his parents, Soles was preceded in death by one son, Stanley Soles; daughter-in-law, Kay Soles; two brothers, Aubrey and Edgar Soles; and sister, Mamie Ola Griffis.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Bobbie Jean Fulford Soles of Scott; children, Ann (Robert) Hood of Kite, Greg Soles, Randy Soles, and Roger (Shirley) Soles, all of Scott, and Connie (Carl) Carter of Milledgeville; two brothers, W.D. Soles and Robert (Mary Helen) Soles; sister, Fran Sauls of Scott; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and a host of many friends.
Pallbearers were grandsons and great-grandsons, Michael, Joey, Kevin, Tyler and Gavin Hood, Jason, Stanley, and Mark and Channan Soles.
Sammons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
