   Funeral services for Tarl Bentley Fennell Jr., 74, of Swainsboro were held Sunday, August 26, 2018 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Curtis Wells officiating. Interment followed at Eastbrook Cemetery and Mausoleum. He passed away Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Emanuel Medical Center following a brief illness.
   Mr. Tarl Bentley Fennell Jr. was born August 7, 1944 in Metter to the late Tarl Bentley Fennell Sr. and Lannie Louise Smith Fennell. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being outdoors; he knew the Ocmulgee River like the back of his hand. Fennell loved his family and loved spending time with them. He was a member of Dodges Chapel Methodist Church and attended Dellwood Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Brian Fennell; and brothers, Hugh Fennell and Stanley Fennell.
   Survivors include his wife, Bernice L. Fennell of Swainsboro; daughters, Dell (James) Atkins of Helena and Wendy (Angel) Diaz of Hazlehurst; stepson, Eric Herrington of Swainsboro; brother, Emory (Joyce) Fennell of Swainsboro; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
   Pallbearers were Eric Herrington, Steven Sutton, Bobby Seamans, Keith Attaway, Ben Shephard, and Steve Akridge. The honorary pallbearer was Jamie Kirby.
   Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
