Single vehicle crash in Garfield leads to arrest of driver/mother

   As a result of a single vehicle crash, a 30-year-old female driver was placed under arrest and charged with numerous offences. 

   At 9:15 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31, Garfield Fire Department and Emanuel Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash on Highway 23 North, opposite Hall Street. First responders found a white Ford Mustang perpendicular to the roadway next to a telephone pole with extensive front end damage. The occupants of the vehicle, a female and three minor age children, were outside the vehicle. The adult claimed that everyone was fine and did not need EMS. Upon evaluation of the children by First Responders, the 8-year-old male complained of pain around his eye and had swelling in the area. EMS was requested to check out the children at the scene. Garfield firefighters were assisted at the scene by members of the Twin City Fire Department.
