SECRD hosts first annual basketball camp for girls

   Under the direction of athletic coordinator Deandra Coleman, Swainsboro-Emanuel County Recreation Department hosted its first annual Girls Just Want to Ball Basketball Camp on July 16-20. Held in the recreation department’s gym, the camp was free of charge for girls ages 6-12.

   The girls worked on drills to improve their basketball skills and focused on learning the fundamentals of the game. Each participant was presented a certificate and a basketball donated by Walmart upon completion of the camp.

   Participating in the camp were Jacquline Johnson, Samaria Givens, Jalisa Mack, Ja’Niya Mack, Ja’Miya Mack, Caliey Fann, Natiya Hill, Ja’zyria Bell, Makasia Worthen, Ronnee’ Russell, Braylee Ricks, Sanaye Scott, Deoriah Tillman, Toriah Williams, Mckinley Walden, Chelsea Fann, Joy Evines, and Kylia Pinkston.

   Assisting Coleman were Caleb Fields, Erin Dixon, Jo Jo Pearson, Jocelyn Franklin, and  Swainsboro High School coach Alex Parker-Roberson.
