On August 1 at 6:43 p.m., Oak Park Engine 243, Emanuel County EMS, and Emanuel County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a rollover crash on Highway 297. Arriving on scene, they found a FedEx van off the roadway. Although there was extensive damage to the vehicle, the driver received only minor injuries and was released by EMS. The operator of the van stated he had fallen asleep with driving. The van had travelled on the wrong side of the road onto the shoulder, swerved back to the other side, and rolled over on the soft shoulder. Troopers from Post 19 of the Georgia State Patrol investigated the crash.
