Mattie Lee Brantley, 64

   Funeral services for Mattie Lee Brantley were held Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at 1 p.m. at New Mount Mariah AME Church with Reverend Benjamin Martin officiating. Interment followed in Greens Cemetery Crossing. She died Thursday, August 23, 2018, at Shamrock Nursing and Rehab Center in Dublin.

   Ms. Mattie Lee Brantley was born August 28, 1953, in Emanuel County to the late Leroy Brantley and Lucille Watson Brantley. She attended the Emanuel County School System and was a member of Forth’s Grove Baptist Church, where she served faithfully in the choir for many years. Brantley was a devoted worker at Emanuel Child Development Center. She retired after working there for 25 years. Brantley was also a foster mother, a Swainsboro Band Booster member, and a Den Mother for the girls’ basketball team. In addition to her father and mother, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Johnny B. Brantley and Leroy Brantley Jr.; three sisters, Polly Brantley, Margaret (Pee-Wee) Scott, and Elnora (Coot) Gardner; and a devoted and loving friend, Charles Canaday.

   Survivors include her children, Alexander (Patina) Bright of Atlanta, Derman (Claudia) Simmons Jr. of Harlem, Dorothy (Aaron) Pierce of Dublin, and Tina Simmons; brothers, Edward (Shirley) Brantley, Samuel (Jackie) Brantley, and Carl Brantley; sisters, Louella Grady of Augusta and Barbara Ricks; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three devoted friends, Louvinia Martin, Tefanie Matthews, and Mary Ann Foster; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

   Wyche’s Funeral Home Inc. of Dublin was in charge of arrangements.
