Mary Louise Salter Oglesby, 65

   Funeral services for Mary Louise Salter Oglesby, 65, were held Wednesday, August 8, 2018, at 3 p.m. at Mt. Zion Church of Garfield with Reverend Ted Walters presiding. Interment followed at Mt. Zion Church Cemetery of Garfield. She died Saturday, August 4, 2018.

   Mrs. Mary Louise Slater Oglesby was born on October 20, 1952, in Kite to the late Curtis Lee “Sonny” Salter and Elizabeth “Beck” Salter. She attended Dock Kemp High School in Wrightsville, and later received an associates degree in early childhood education from Swainsboro Technical College. Oglesby held a myriad of jobs, but found working with students at Swainsboro High School to be one of her most fulfilling and rewarding jobs. Besides being a loving and compassionate educator, her greatest attributes were being a faithful servant of the Lord and a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and neighbor. Oglesby was preceded in death by her mother and father, brothers, Alton Salter, Midas Salter, Carlton Cummings, and Curtis Wright; and her late husband, Rollie Lee Oglesby Sr.

   Survivors include children, Mary Clover of McDonough, Anthony Clover of Kite, Derek Clover of Augusta, Rita Oglesby of Riverdale, Freida Oglesby of Statesboro, and Rollie Oglesby Jr. of Atlanta; siblings, AB Salter of East Dublin, Bessie Brown of Dublin, Emmitt Salter of Kite, Michael Salter of Kite, and Lessie May Williams; eight grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren, in-laws, nieces, nephews, former students, family, friends, and most of all, her dog, Ginger.

   Pallbearers were Tavin Clover, Christopher Olgsby, Deontae Oglesby, Michael Brown Jr., Marquez Clover, Darien Hill, Vernell Worthen, and Martavious Brantley. Honorary pallbearers were Danny Rucker, DeWayne Davis, Tim Travet, Recarda Williams, Darrell Oglesby, Ozzi Oglesby, DeWitt Davis, Alvin Salter, O’Bryant Williams, Tyler Clover, Derrick Oglesby, and Billy Wicker.

   Mosley’s Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
