Marion Coleman, 85

   Funeral services for Marion Coleman, 85, of The Rock, were held Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Mt. Gap Church of The Rock at 11 a.m. with Reverend Ted Coody and Bishop Timothy Timothy Lamb officiating. Interment followed at 4 p.m. in the Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery in Swainsboro. She passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at The Oaks Nursing Center in Athens.

   Mrs. Marion Coleman was born on October 27, 1932 in Swainsboro to the late John Frederick Keen and Maddie McDaniel Keen. She worked for the Barnesville Housing Authority and was the comptroller for Gordon College. Coleman was a long-time member of Mt. Gap Church in The Rock, where she and her husband, Nerf, worked tirelessly on projects at the church and also at Mt. Gap Campground, formerly known as Camp Louisa Jones, built by Reverend Coleman. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who will be remembered for her kindness, dedication to her family and church, and her baking, especially her delicious tea cakes. In addition to her parents, Coleman was preceded in death by her husband, Nerf Gene Coleman; son, John Anthony Coleman; and brothers, Freddie Lemuel Keen and James Rawlins Keen, both of Swainsboro.

   Survivors include her children Martha C. Vaughn of Athens, William Nerf (Peggy) Coleman of Magnolia, Texas, and Randall Marion (Pattie) Coleman of Nolensville, Tennessee; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

   Moody-Daniel Funeral Home of Zebulon was in charge of arrangements.
