Katie Bell Rheney, 99

   Graveside services for Katie Bell Rheney, 99, of Swainsboro were held Sunday, August 5, 2018, at 3 p.m. in the Swainsboro City Cemetery. She passed away Friday, August 3, 2018, at Thomson Health and Rehab.

   Mrs. Katie Bell Rheney was born December 10, 1918, to the late Charlie and Pinkie Parrish Beckworth. She was a homemaker, foster parent for more than 20 years, and loved cooking, sewing, and quilting. She sewed parachutes during World War II, later ran her own alterations business, and assisted with the family farm. Rheney was of the Baptist faith and was preceded in death by her husbands, A. L. “Bogie” Bell and J. B. Rheney; daughter, Elizabeth Turner; sisters, Mary May, Carrie Bell Hall, Vera Sandifor and Irene Bell; and brothers, Carl Beckworth, Ben Beckworth, Chandler Beckworth and Lloyd Beckworth.

   Survivors include two sons, Chad Bell of Swainsboro and Jimmy Bell of Vidalia; one sister, Madelle Wheeler of Vidalia; one son-in-law, Stacy Turner of Thomson; three grandchildren, Gary (Polly) Cowart, Jeff (Lee Anne) Cowart, and Donna (Rick) Player; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
   Pallbearers were her great-grandsons, Jim Cowart, Kennedy Cowart, Buchanan Cowart, Hunter Cowart, Lee Cowart, and Taylor Carrington.
   Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors was in charge of arrangements.
