Jimmie Amerson, 83

   Funeral services for Jimmie Amerson, 83, of Swainsboro were held Thursday, August 16, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Reverends Neil Stich and Keith Claxton officiating. Interment followed at Swainsboro City Cemetery. He passed away Monday, August 13, 2018 at Emanuel Medical Center following a brief illness.
   Mr. Jimmie Amerson was born May 4, 1935 in Kite to the late Algie B. Amerson and Maddie Price Amerson. He was a truck driver for Bowman Transportation for 25 years, receiving the Safe Driver Award. He was also the owner and operator of Amerson Towing. He was a hard-working man who provided for his family and loved spending time with them. He nicknamed every child, grandchild, and great-grandchild; each one was very special to him. Amerson enjoyed spending his days with his family and visiting with friends at Hardee’s and Waffle King. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church for 28 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jimmie Amerson Jr.; grandson, Joseph Allen Amerson Jr.; sisters, Loucille Logue, Wilma Akridge, and Jackie Hadden; and brothers, Byron Amerson, Lauvasia Amerson, and Charles W. Amerson.
   Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Lucy Amerson of Swainsboro; daughters, Carolyn (Billy) Brinson of Swainsboro and Elizabeth (David) Way Swainsboro; son, Allen (Becky) Amerson of Swainsboro; grandchildren, Mandy (Billy) Lively, Brook (Josh) Clements, Billy (Mandi) Brinson Jr., Joey Amerson, Marshall Amerson, Bethany Way, and Noah Way; great-grandchildren, Maci Lively, Lenox Lively, Sydney Lively, Amelia Grace, Drake Clements, Dawson Clements, Bentley Brinson, Blakely Brinson, and Finley Brinson; and several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
   Pallbearers were Johnny Amerson, Jimmy Amerson, Bill Cavannah, Gary Rowland, Steve Powell, Coleman Hall, John Wilder Page, Jack Godowns, Josh Clements, and Billy Lively. Honorary pallbearers were the Hardee’s Coffee Club, Greg Newsome, and Paul Pierre.
   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
   Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
