Gloria Ann Hooks Youmans, 84

   Funeral services for Gloria Ann Hooks Youmans, 84, of Swainsboro were held Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 3 p.m. in the Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Rev. Clarence Thompson officiating, assisted by Elder Tommy Rountree. Interment followed in the New Hope Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. She passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at the Emanuel County Nursing Home.

   Mrs. Gloria Ann Hooks Youmans was born on August 19, 1933 in Lexsy, Emanuel County, to the late Elsie Nixon and Hattie Mae Lanier Hooks. She was a homemaker and a devoted wife and mother. She loved her family and was a caregiver to all. Youmans was a member of New Hope Primitive Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Youmans was preceded in death by her husband, Billy J. Youmans; a sister, Veneta Hooks Crawford; and two brothers, Elsie Quenton Hooks and Doyle Fredrick Hooks.
   Survivors include two daughters, Pam (Smith) Edenfield and Lisa (Marion) Shaw, both of Swainsboro; one son, Billy “Kim” (Sheila) Youmans of Swainsboro; two sisters, Melba Hooks (Gene) Bishop of Mobile, Alabama, and Sylvia Hooks Durden of Swainsboro; four grandchildren, Lauren Shaw (Mitch) McMillan, Megan Shaw (Clay) Smith, Jonathan Lanier (Miranda) Edenfield, and Ashley Brooke (Tim) Mace; and eight great-grandchildren.

   Pallbearers were Michael Hooks, Ricky Hooks, Emmett Warren, Tim Bishop, Dale Hooks, Lavant Durden, Joe Mullis, and Roger Youmans. Honorary escorts were members of the Class of 1950.

   Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors was in charge of arrangements.
