Francis R. Johnson Evans, 86

   Funeral services for Francis R. Johnson Evans, 86, of North Augusta, South Carolina were held Monday, August 13, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Posey Funeral Home with Reverend Masaki Chiba officiating. Interment followed in Sunset memory Gardens in Aiken, South Carolina. She died on August 9, 2018, at her home after a sudden illness.

   Mrs. Francis R. Johnson Evans was a native of Emanuel County and lived in Clearwater, South Carolina for many years before moving to North Augusta, where she lived the past 17 years. She was a member of Fairview Presbyterian Church in North Augusta, where she shared her love for music and singing as a member of the choir. Evans was also a passionate Clemson Tiger and Atlanta Braves fan. She was a talented seamstress and cook, and she loved to read and write poetry and travel. Evans loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She worked with Hamrick’s department store for more than 30 years. Evans was preceded in death by her parents, L.L and Lois Bishop Rigdill of Summertown; her first husband, J.D. Johnson, formally of Cannoochee; second husband, Gary Evans of North Augusta; five sisters, Ruth R. Murry, Dorothy McKenzie, Idell Perkins, Oris R. Lewis, and Marion R. Haynie; and three brothers, Irwin Rigdill, Junius B. Rigdill, and John Louis Rigdill.

   Survivors include three sons, Keith (Linda) of North Augusta, Ken (Teresa) of Hephzibah, and Phillip Johnson of Burnettown, South Carolina; one daughter, Robin (Joe) Saxson of Augusta; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

   Pallbearers were Zane Johnson,  Zach Johnson, Ryan Heckendorn, Jeffery Johnson, Jerry Johnson, and Jay Johnson.

   Memorials may be made to Fairview Presbyterian Church, 1101 Carolina Ave., North Augusta, S.C. 29841.
