Family Connection gives away books at open house

On July 30, Swainsboro Elementary School held a successful open house with more 700 people in attendance. Parents and students met their new teachers, hear positive words from Principal Valorie Watkins and Assistant Principal Rossie Wiggins, and become familiar with their new classrooms.
Other organizations were available to give parents information and resources.

One of those organizations was Family Connection. Through generous funding from the Mill Creek Foundation, Family Connection was able to give out free books to students as they entered the school. Erma Jenkins and Tammy Allen handed out 270 new books during the open house.

With the great attendance and the excitement of the students and staff, the school year is off to a great start!
