The Brier Creek Chapter of the Georgia Society Sons of the American Revolution (GASSAR) held its monthly meeting Thursday, August 2, at R&D’s Restaurant in Sylvania.
Seven members attended, and they were joined by seven guests: Dennis Wiggins, Mike Lisenby, Laura Howard, Logan Hughes, Danny Rybicki, Jonnie Rybicki, and Gary Hill.
President Lee Smith presided. Chaplain Wayne Howard opened the meeting with an invocation and a blessing, then the attendees enjoyed dinner. President Smith then asked Howard to lead the pledges to the U.S. and SAR flags.

Following, dual member Dess Smith III introduced Mike Lisenby of Swainsboro to present his program on the Founding Fathers. Lisenby is a retired attorney at law and lives in Emanuel County with his wife, the former Nancy Smith, daughter of the late James and Anna Smith.
After Lisenby’s presentation, President Smith asked Dess to update the chapter on the progress of the Brier Creek Battlefield Association, Inc.’s 501(c)3 application.
The meeting was closed with Howard leading the SAR recessional and and delivering the benediction.
