Sight of the century on Lucky Street

by | July 12, 2018 9:53 am

Approximately 10 years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Billy Givens of Lucky Street were given a century plant by Mrs. Givens’ mother. Today, the plant stands tall in the couple’s front yard, along with their many other plants.

Century plants are monocarpic plants, meaning they only bloom once during their lifespans. These plants may not bloom for 10-20 years, possibly longer. When bloomed, the plant will bear upward-facing yellow flowers at the end of its horizontal branches. Stalks of century plants can reach 10 to 25 feet tall.
