SHS host basketball camp featuring Globetrotter legend

   Recently, Swainsboro High School (SHS) Lady Tigers Basketball Program hosted a girls basketball clinic. The 3-day camp was held June 20 through June 22 at the SHS gymnasium for ages 6 years of age to 13. The camp was designed to teach and elevate the game of basketball for girls. Fundamentals of shooting, ball handling, passing, offense, and defense were taught.

   The clinic offered correct teaching of basketball fundamentals taught daily by lead instructor Harlem Globetrotters legend Larry “Gator” Rivers. Rivers was an active member of the Globetrotters from 1973-1986 as a player and coach. He travelled all over the world putting on entertaining shows for basketballs fans. He enjoys showcasing his amazing ball handling skills. Rivers resides in the city of Savannah and is very active in working with youth through the game of basketball. Rivers was introduced to the campers and welcomed to the city by Mayor Pro Tem Rita Faulkner.
