SECRD 8U girls all-star team to play for state title

   The 8-and-under (8U) girls all-star softball team from Swainsboro-Emanuel County Recreation Department went undefeated in the Georgia Recreation and Park Association (GRPA) District 1 Tournament, played in Lyons June 25-29, and will now compete in the GRPA State Softball Tournament slated for July 10-12 at Magnolia Sports Complex in Moultrie.

   The 8U girls defeated Dublin 21-14 in their first fame of the district tournament. They went on to defeat Vidalia 16-3 and Rincon 17-5. Swainsboro-Emanuel took the district tournament championship following another win over Rincon in the final game 11-6.

   The team will play its first game Wednesday, July 11, at 10 a.m. against the winner of Moutrie versus District 2 runner-up game.

   Playing for the Swainsboro-Emanuel 8U all-star team are Berklie Bishop, Chloe Boulineau, Jillian Davis, Brook Fleming, Madison Harrison, Kyleigh Hostile, Aubrey Jones, Charley Mitchell, Payton Peebles, Holli Schoen, and Aubrey Scott. Coaches are Adam Ely, Trent Boulineau, and Jennifer Jones.
