Funeral services for Marvin Lamar Hood, 95, of Kite were held Monday, July 2, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Kite First Baptist Church with Rev. Burton Dixon officiating and Rev. John Dixon assisting. Interment followed in Eastbrook Cemetery. He died Saturday, June 30, at his residence.
Mr. Marvin Lamar Hood was born December 27, 1922, in Pringle, Washington County, to the late Johnny and Susie Poole Hood. He was a WWII veteran of Foreign Wars and a Purple Heart Recipient. Hood was employed and retired from All Make & Reliable Typewriter Co., and was a member of Kite First Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon and in numerous other capacities through the years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ouida Lindsey Hood; brother, Joseph Hood, Winton Hood, and Herman Hood; son-in-law, Dr. T. Matthew Tamblyn III; and great-grandchildren, Micah Fleming and Asa Tamblyn.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Tamblyn of Swainsboro and Dr. Kathy Hood of Kite; one sister, Blanche Simmons of Kite; four grandchildren, Jeanne (Eric) Pohl, Susan (Travis Jr.) Fleming, Karen (Mitchell) Hudson, and David (Hope) Tamblyn; 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Pallbearers were David Tamblyn, Travis Fleming Jr., Mitchell Hudson, Matthew Fleming, John Dixon, and William Hood. Honorary pallbearers were Richard Dixon and Daniel Dixon.
Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors were in charge of arrangements.
