When Chad Crews shows up, magic happens! Some 200 attendees witnessed that magic as part of the library’s Summer Reading Program. Due to Crews’ popularity, his show was held at the Vann Community Center instead of the library.
In keeping with the theme of this year’s Summer Reading Program, “Libraries Rock!,” Crews showed up dressed like a 1980s rock star. As in past performances, he wowed the crowd with his slate of amazing feats. For one such performance, he had several individuals sit in chairs, then removed the chairs, yet the participants remained seated and were leaning against each other. Another act was his Houdini trick, in which he escaped from a blue jean jacket.
Crews has been drawing crowds not just at libraries but at middle and high schools as well. He uses magic to educate his audiences, to encourage them to read, and to take advantage of their local libraries. Sadly, 2018 will be his last year performing at libraries, but he will continue to visit schools.
Franklin Memorial Library appreciates all who attended Crews’ last appearance and looks forward to future events!
