EGSC earns Joseph M. White Award from GAPPA

   East Georgia State College recently earned the Joseph M. White Award from the Georgia Association of Physical Plant Administrators (GAPPA). The award is a $1,000 grant presented to a member institution’s facilities department to be used at the discretion of that department’s management.

   EGSC Director of Plant Operations David Steptoe says he plans to use the grant to fund several lunch and learn series, as well as staff safety training.

   White began his career in higher education as the resident engineer inspector for Macon Junior College in 1967. In 1968, he became the college’s first director of plant operations and remained in that position until his retirement in 1997 from what had then become Macon State College. White was a charter member of GAPPA in 1982 and the first GAPPA treasurer. He served in this office for more than 20 years. As one of the founding members of GAPPA, he was instrumental in building the organization into the vibrant developmental resource for educational facilities…
