BOE prepares for new school year

The board of education held its regular monthly meeting on Monday, July 16, at 7 p.m. Mase Henry gave the invocation, and Johnny Parker led the Pledge of Allegiance.
In reference to superintendent comments:
• Dr. Kevin Judy stated that an administration retreat for principals, assistant principals, and directors would be held Tuesday, July 17, from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. This retreat covered events for the upcoming school year and a trip to Georgia Southern’s Wildlife Center for a tour and leadership presentation. He also announced a half-day meeting would be held Wednesday, July 18, for a day completely directed towards safety.
• Dr. Judy stated Emanuel County Schools would be participating with the Georgia Leadership Institute of School Improvement (GLISI) again this year. He and Toni Terwilliger will be attending an executive preview on Thursday, July 19, and intend to take 41 teachers and administrators to GLISI this year, as last year’s trip was a huge success.
• Furthermore, Dr. Judy also announced that pre-planning would begin next Wednesday, July 25, and students would return for the first day of school on Wednesday, August 1. An open house for the school district will be held Monday, July 30. All elementary school open houses will be held from 4-6 p.m., and all middle and high school open houses will be held from 4-7 p.m.
