The 10-and-under (10U) girls all-star softball team from Swainsboro Emanuel County Recreation Department (SECRD) traveled to the Clarence E. Morgan Complex in Springfield last week to compete in the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association Class A/B State Softball Tournament. Held July 10-12, the local girls finished the tournament with a 1–2 record and placed fifth in the state.
Team members Kyli Bell, Kayla Crabb, Clara Beth Elsenrath, Zada Ely, Charissa Hall, Henzli Hall, Cassidy Jordan, Dekota Mason, Aacaylah Murphy, Jenna Grace Roberson, Lola Walden, and Briley Womack took opened play Tuesday, July 10, with a game against Moultrie, losing 10-6. Swainsboro-Emanuel righted the ship Wednesday when they took on Effingham County, beating them 13-9. Despite the valiant turnaround, the girls played their last game Thursday against Lyons, dropping the contest 16-4, bringing their time at the state tournament to a close with a fifth place finish.
Coaches were Toni Bell and Joni Hall.
