SHS Beta goes to national convention, several students place in competitions

   Swainsboro High School’s Beta Club joined more than 20,000 attendees at the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center in Savannah on June 17-20 for the 2018 National Beta Convention.
   This unique and energetic convention offers Beta members the opportunity to share project ideas and showcase their academic and leadership abilities with peers from around the globe. Beta members also had the opportunity to learn, engage, and network with fellow Beta members while in Savannah.
   Swainsboro High School Beta Club experienced a very successful and rewarding week at the national convention. They had a total of 14 members attend this year, along with their Beta sponsor, Cindy Riner.
   Several Swainsboro Beta Club members placed in various competitions. Josie Drake placed second in Division I Speech; Esmeralda Hernandez placed secobd in Division II Spanish; Andrew Lamb placed second in Division I Math; Emily Bailey placed 10
th in Divison I Agriculture; Abigayle Roberts placed fifth in Division I Language Arts; and Erin Rowland placed 10th in Recyclable Art.
   The National Beta Club is the largest independent, non-profit, educational youth organization in America.  For more than 80 years, it has prepared today’s students to be tomorrow’s leaders.
