On Thursday, June 14, the Kiwanis Club of Swainsboro traveled to the Herrington Homestead to host a pizza party for its residents and staff.
Not only did the local civic organization provide pizza, but the Kiwanians also prepared tea, lemonade, and water. Deana Patrick prepared eight dozen chocolate chip cookies as well, which went well with the ice cream the Kiwanians brought, too.
A total of 15 residents and two assistants enjoyed the lunch.

The seven Kiwanians who made the trip to the facility on Highway 297 in Nunez were President Jim Clapham, Betty Coleman, Frank Patrick, Pepper Fields, Gary Couse, Linda Lamb, and Wanda Ellis.

Fields arranged for an Emanuel County firetruck and two firefighters to take part in the occasion by exhibiting the emergency vehicle from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., at which point the firefighters joined the group for food.
