Recently, Emanuel County Family Connection completed its first week of Emanuel Chopped Jr. with great success. The “chefs” were a wonderful group to work with in the kitchen. Family Connection is appreciative of all the volunteers (Sunny Rogers, Petite Garrett, Dionne Gamble, Jennifer Sapp, Lena Hall, AnnaLayne Scarboro, Kali Screws, and Briley Womack) who shared their time and skills to see that the participants had a fun learning experience.

Also, Family Connection’s first week of distributing books with the summer meal program took place Tuesday, June 5.

Partnering with Franklin Memorial Library, Family Connection sponsored its first week of the scavenger hunt for books on Thursday, June 7. There were 38 children who followed the clues and received a free book. Spivey Bank and Tonya Ogletree are appreciated for being the secret business to give out the books for the week. Any child under the age of 13 can participate in this fun summer activity. Each week, clues will be revealed on Family Connection and Franklin Memorial’s Facebook pages, as well as published in The Forest-Blade. A different business each week will be the secret location where students can pick up their free book.
