Durden Banking Company, Inc. has completed another successful year for its mini bank program with Twin City Elementary (TCE) and Swainsboro Primary School (SPS).
Originally started in 1987, as part of the Partners in Education Program with third grade students at Twin City Primary, the program has now expanded to include second grade at Swainsboro Primary and grades 2-5 at Twin City Elementary. Students can make deposits throughout the school year and receive a check for their savings plus interest at the end of the school year.  The project correlates with the math and money curriculum and promotes a lifestyle of saving.

Swainsboro Primary’s five top-saving second graders for the year were Kammirynn Bell, Weston Lee, Edward Rodriguez, Savannah Thompson, and Alayah Foots. The teacher with the most participation this year was Cindy Riner, and the teacher with the most money saved was Jessica English. In all, 111 students participated in the program this year, saving more than $8,800.
Twin City Elementary’s participating students in grades second, third, fourth, and fifth saved more than $4,800 for the year. The top two savers for each grade were as follows: Cason Cowart and Kobe Caraway (second), Kimauri Reid and Halle Hatcher (third), Lola Walden and Max McBride (fourth), and Cailey Fann and Jamyah Cooper (fifth).
