   The Forest-Blade will be closed on Wednesday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. Our next edition will be sent to press Monday, July 2, at 3 p.m. sharp, and it will hit newsstands Tuesday, July 3. Our deadlines for that edition have been set for Monday, July 2, at 10 a.m. firm.

Young Farmers hold meeting

   Emanuel County Young Farmers recently held its June meeting at the Farm Bureau building. The 18 members in attendance enjoyed a meal sponsored by Swainsboro Stockyard. Dr. Sam Evans and Dr. Ace Clark shared different brands and uses for cattle fly control.

Getting wild with education

   Southeastern Technical College’s (STC) Fish & Wildlife Management (FWMT) program visited Georgia Southern University’s (GSU) Center for Wildlife Education on May 31, 2018.

   The FWMT program at STC is a sequence of courses that prepares students for careers as wildlife technicians. Students learn to conserve and manage wildlife reservation facilities for recreational, commercial, and ecological purposes.

   Swainsboro High School’s Beta Club joined more than 20,000 attendees at the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center in Savannah on June 17-20 for the 2018 National Beta Convention.

Recovery is Possible to host annual event this weekend

   On Saturday, June 30, Recovery is Possible will host its annual Mental Health Awareness event from 6 until 9 p.m. at the Boneyard Pavilion. This year’s theme will be “Recovery is a Choice. Choose You.”
