Wedincamp speaks to Kiwanis club

   The Kiwanis Club of Swainsboro held its weekly meeting on Tuesday, May 22, at 7 p.m. at Catered Creations with President Jim Clapham presiding. There were 24 members in attendance and one guest. 

   The program for the evening was hosted by Tim Goodman, who introduced Dianna Wedincamp to present the program. One program presenter, I-Wen Huang (Evan), an exchange student from Taiwan, had a last-minute illness, also his program was presented by Wedincamp.

   Evan is from Hsinchu, Taiwan, which has a population of over 500,000. Evan attends Swainsboro High School (SHS) and plays baseball and violin in the SHS band. Wedincamp also introduced Lucas Ishigai, an exchange student from Brazil. Ishigai is from Sao Paulo, Brazil, which has a population of over 30 million people. He is a senior at SHS and was MVP of the SHS baseball team. Ishigai ultimately wants to return to the United States and play college baseball somewhere.

   Both exchange students enjoyed their time on the Wedincamp farm, under the watchful eye of Dianna and Jimmy Wedincamp. Both adjusted well to their time living in the country. Evan drove for the first time an ATV mule, and Lucas pumped gas for the first time. Evan and Ishigai thanked the Emanuel County Board of Education and SHS for hosting them for this year.
