This Saturday, May 19, the City of Garfield will host its 20th annual Garfield Cookout Festival. Festivities will kick off at 8:30 a.m. with a 5K Potty Run/Walk and a 1-mile fun run. A fishing tournament will be going on all morning as well, with weigh-in slated around lunch time at the main stage, and, as alway, cooking and barbecue competitions will begin very early. The parade is scheduled for 10 a.m., and the lawn mower pull will take place at 1 p.m. Following the pull will be a cornhole tournament.

Entertainment, arts and crafts, and rides for children will be available all day long. Entertainment for the night will feature the Classic City Soul Band from Athens, who will perform during the street dance beginning at 7:30 until 11:30 p.m.

Those in attendance must have wristbands to enter the festival area, except for those of handicap approval. The day cost for wristbands will be $3 and will include entrance to the street dance. For wristbands purchased after 4 p.m., the cost will increase to $5. This rule will be strictly enforced, day and night. No glass containers or coolers will be allowed in festival area.
