Funeral services for Jerry Lee Bright, 64, were held Saturday, May 12, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Life’s Hope Ministries of Decatur with Pastor Eric Jackson officiating. Interment followed in Kennedy Memorial Gardens in Ellenwood. He died Saturday, May 5, 2018.
Mr. Jerry “JB” Lee Bright was born in Swainsboro on August 16, 1953, as the fifth of eight children to the late Samuel and Ethel Bright. He graduated from Swainsboro High School in 1972. Soon after, Bright moved to Atlanta and began working for DeKalb County Roads and Drainage and eventually retired from Swars. He was known to have an easygoing and fun-filled personality with a love for football and his “shades.” On July 28, 2002, Bright met Valerie Freeman. Six years later, on September 29, 2008, the coupled was united in marriage. Bright was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, James, David, and Charles Bright.
Survivors include his wife, Valerie Freeman-Bright; brother, Thomas Bright; three sisters, Emma Dawson, Mary Slater, and Margaret Ann Watson; step-sister, Julia Mae Weaver; and a host of other family members, friends, and neighbors.
Pallbearers were Alexandre Bright, Jovonnie Jones, Delton Salter, Qui West Jr., and Robert Thompson.
Gregory B. Levett and Sons was in charge of arrangements.
