Sister Georgie Lee Franklin, 88

   Funeral services for Sister Georgie Lee Franklin, 88, of Swainsboro were held Saturday, April 14, 2018, at 3 p.m. with Reverend Bennie Brinson presiding. Interment followed in the Swainsboro City Cemetery. She died April 10.

   Sister Georgie Lee Franklin was born on April 15, 1929 in Swainsboro to the late Jesse James and Roseal Jackson. She later moved to Florida and resided for many years. Following her retirement from the workforce, Franklin returned to Swainsboro to fulfill her dutiful purpose not only in the church, but in the community as well. Franklin will be remembered as a faithful and dedicated church member of the Grater St. James Missionary Bapstich Church where she sang in the choir, served as a Senior Mission Member, and labored in the culinary ministry for many church events. While residing in Florida, she was also a member of the Eastern Stars. Franklin was preceded in death by her parents and daughter.

   Survivors include her loving and devoted husband, Lamar Franklin; son, Freddie Brown of Pinellas Park, Florida; and sister, Lucille Jackson of Miami, Florida.

   Pallbearers were deacons of Greater St. James Baptist Church.

   Mosley’s Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
