Drug Suppression Unit executes search warrant on Lucky Street

During the afternoon of Feb. 28 following an extensive investigation by Swainsboro Police Department’s Drug Suppression Unit, multiple officers from SPD converged at the residence of 328 Lucky Street. Drug Suppression Unit, through its investigation, identified that the target address was being used for the distribution of illegal drugs. Multiple arrests were made. More information will follow as the investigation continues.

   Proud parents Jessica Martin and Jeremy Faircloth of Swainsboro are pleased to announce the birth of their daughter. Born Jan. 11, 2018, Robbi Ann Faircloth weighed 8 lbs. and was 20.5” long. She was delivered at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro.

McRae addresses SHS students

   On Thursday, Feb. 8, Agatha McRae, a representative from Southeastern Technical College, visited Swainsboro High School and spoke to Mrs. Mason’s business communication class about dual enrollment. While on hand, she explained to the students the benefits of beginning their college careers while still in high school. The students were excited to learn of the many careers offered in Emanuel County.

Cope to plea insanity

   At a hearing held Feb. 7, Oliver Baylen Cope pleaded not guilty to aggravated assault and murder, among other charges, and the defense is planning to pursue insanity. Cope is represented by Statesboro attorneys Daniel Snipes and Joey Cowart.

   Funeral services for Loren “Eddie” Donaldson Jr., 67, of Twin City were held in the Chapel of Chapman Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 26, 2018, with Reverends Jesse Bates and Earnest Harris officiating. Interment followed in the Bethel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. He passes away Friday night, Feb. 23, 2018, at Community Hospice following an extended illness.
