William Ray “Bill” Hayes, 85

   Funeral services for William Ray “Bill” Hayes, 85, resident of Swainsboro, were held Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Dellwood Baptist Church with Reverend Joe Bedgood, Reverend Phil Wilson, Reverend Hal Wilson, and Jim Harrell officiating. Interment with military honors followed in the Forest Lawn Cemetery. He died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017, at Emanuel Medical Center.

   Mr. William Ray “Bill Hayes was born in Cobbtown, son of the late James Francis and Annie Berta Slayton Hayes. He was a United States Navy veteran, and he had worked in retail sales before retiring. He was a member of the Emmaus Community, the Kairos Prison Ministry, and the Promisekeepers. He and his wife, Annette, had been married more than 60 years.

   Survivors include his wife, Annette Bush Hayes of Swainsboro; daughter, Cynthia (Rick) Davis of Danielson, Conn.; three sons, William Germerial (Diane) Hayes of Chester, S.C., James Francis (Renae) Hayes of Val Rico, Fla., and John Farris (Celena) Hayes of Monroe, N.C.; grandchildren, William G. “Billy” (Marky) Hayes, Aaron Hayes, Bradley Hayes, Brandon Hayes, Hannah Davis, Kayla Hayes, and Rylee Hayes; great-grandchildren, Willa Hayes and Blythe McCurley; sisters, Betty Hayes Scott of Marietta and Alice Hayes Hall of Swainsvoro; honorary brothers, Germerial (June) Warrick of Santa Paula, Calif., and Brian (Kathy) Jones of Swainsboro; and several nieces and nephews.

   Tomlinson Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
