Nine sentenced in Superior Court

   In the Emanuel County Superior Court’s October 2017 term, the following individuals were sentenced:

   Martin Gregory Scott negotiated a plea of guilty on one count possession of cocaine. He was sentenced to six years probation.

   Michael Johnson negotiated a plea of guilty (Alford) on one count theft by conversion. He received seven years probation.

   Nancy Darleen Walls negotiated pleas of guilty on one count possession of alprazolam and theft by shoplifting. She received three years to serve.

   Dennis Dewayne Morrison negotiated a plea of guilty on one count possession of cocaine, for which he received a 3-year probation sentence. He also faced one count possession of drug-related object, one count suspended license, and one count improper registration, all of which were deemed nol pros.

   David Samuel Avery negotiated a plea of guilty on one count compounding a crime. He received 12 months probation. He also faced one count false statements, but that charge was deemed nol pros.

   Roy Jackson Sanders Jr. negotiated pleas of guilty on one count possession of cocaine, one count possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, one count fleeing and eluding law enforcement, and one count reckless driving. He was sentenced to 20 years probation.

   San Antonio Christopher Young negotiated a plea of guilty on one count felony murder and was sentenced to life in prison with parole. He received credit for time served from May 4, 2017. He also faced one count malice murder, an additional count of felony murder, and one count armed robbery. Those three charges were deemed nol pros.

   Ladarius Quintez Sherrod was found guilty on one count aggravated assault and was sentenced to 20 years in prison. He was also found guilty (lesser incl.) on one count aggravated assault reduced to reckless conduct, a charge he received a 12-month probation sentence for. He also faced an additional count of aggravated assault but was found not guilty.

   Michael Foster negotiated a plea of guilty on one count trafficking in cocaine, one count possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and one count possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. Additionally, he negotiated a plea of guilty on two counts sale of cocaine. For these charges, he was sentenced to a total of 40 years, the first 10 years of which are to be served in confinement and the remainder on probation.
