After graduating high school, he attended spring training in Auburndale, Fla., but shortly after, he realized his love for baseball wasn’t as strong as his love for his best friend, Mary “Pup” Sutton, who he married, and she blessed him with three children. Morgan lived most of his life in Candler County, where he was a county commissioner for 32 years. He also drove buses No. 166 and No. 79 for 35 years with Chandler County Board of Education, where his passion was driving the Metter football team. He was a farmer for many years; he loved taking care of his farm and his animals. Morgan was a member of Metter Lions Club and Mount Olive Primitive Baptist Church of Aline. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Mary F. “Pup” Morgan of Metter; son, Sonny (Barbie) Morgan of Swainsboro; daughters, Phyllis (James E.)
