Bady takes Twin City City Commission seat

On Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018, Jule Bady Jr. attended his first Twin City City Commission meeting as a voting member. He won the seat in November, beating incumbent Russell Thornton 111-78. Jerry Cadle was present to swear in the newest member as well as Matt Donaldson, who faced George Archer Jr. and won 140-63.
After the swearing-in ceremony, Cadle formally announced that he would no longer serve as city attorney. He expressed his gratitude to the City of Twin City for its long-running partnership with him, and the commission reciprocated those sentiments. Mayor Eileen Dudley stated that until new representation has been obtained, Cadle will continue to assist with city matters.
The hot topic of the meeting, as has been the case for a few months now, was the financial report from Donaldson. During Tuesday’s meeting, he brought an update on the 2015 and 2016 audits.
The 2015 audit review was recently returned from Stacie Avery. According to her findings, the General Fund account was overbudget by $42,852. The Water Fund had a negative balance of $131,812 after transfers and interest expense. Also, Avery indicated in her review that she was unable to locate budgets for both the General Fund and the Water Fund, nor was she able to locate a budget or a copy of the referendum for SPLOST funds.
