P. Blaine Welborn, 87

   Funeral services for P. Blaine Welborn, 87, of Swainsboro were held Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Swainsboro First Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Leigh officiating. Interment followed in the Eastbrook Cemetery. He died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017.

   Mr. P. Blaine Welborn was born June 25, 1930, in Ronda, N.C., to the late Charles Lee and Mattie Maci Welborn. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. After retiring from Swainsboro Printworks as a textile printer, he was employed by Farmers Furniture. He was an avid reader, loved traveling, and was a member of Swainsboro First Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Welborn was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Mary Helen Vaughan Welborn; sisters, Kathleen Wells, Mary Tucker, and Haleigh Welborn; and brothers, Harold Welborn and Ralph Welborn.

   Survivors include one daughter, Maria (Sam) Daniels of Swainsboro; two sisters, Ann (Howard) Gray and Betty Jo (Curt) Bame, both all of Colfax, N.C.; three brothers, Dwight Welborn of Winston Salem, N.C., R.J Welborn of Colfax, N.C., and George Welborn of Hamptonville, N.C.; and two grandsons, Richard Blaine (Emily) Daniels and Jacob Vaughan Daniels.

   Pallbearers were Michael Edenfield, Henry Terwilliger, J. Tyson Stephens, Chris Hall, Ed Daniels, and Richard Daniels. In grateful appreciation, honorary pallbearers were his caregivers, Loucendia Williams, Audrey Riggins, Tommy Giles, Priscilla Williams, and Corinthia Jackson. Also serving as honorary pallbearers were members of the Jimmy Morgan Sunday school class.

   Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors was in charge of arrangements.
