On Sunday, December 3, 2017, East Georgia State College’s Head Women’s Basketball Coach C.J. Pace was honored by her alma mater, University of South Carolina, during the USC vs. Duke women’s basketball game in Columbia, S.C.

Dawn Staley, National Championship Coach for South Carolina, honored Pace and two other former USC players in a pre-game ceremony for helping pave the way for the success of the women’s basketball program at USC.

During the ceremony, Pace and her fellow alums were presented with replica National Championship Trophies.

“I knew I was receiving the replica trophy, but did not know it was going to be before the game,” said Coach Pace. “I really was surprised but honored that Coach Staley was so thoughtful toward the players that came before the team that won the National Championship. I love being a part of the Gamecock family and will be forever grateful for the coaches and experience with them. Forever to thee!”

“Coach Pace is one of the most hardworking and respected coaches in the Junior College ranks throughout the nation,” said EGSC Athletic Director Chuck Wimberly. “It was a tremendous honor to be at the pre-game ceremony honoring her and other South Carolina women’s basketball players for their accomplishments. What a great honor for EGSC and Swainsboro, Georgia to have such a tremendous coach and great coaching talent at our college and in our community.”
