Berta Wells Tapley, 94

   Graveside services for Berta Wells Tapley, 94, of Swainsboro will be held Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Swainsboro City Cemetery with Rev. Louis Pearce and Rev. Keith Claxton officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. She passed away Monday, Dec. 4, 2017, at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro.

   Mrs. Berta Wells Tapley was born February 23, 1923, in Hinesville to the late William Otis and Lula Reddish Wells. She was a charter member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, and her family was her greatest treasure. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Quitman Tapley; two sisters; two brothers; sons-in-law, William Robert Hall and Raymond E. Steinberg; and grandson, William Robert Hall Jr.

   Survivors include two daughters, Susie Tapley Hall of Tybee Island and Brenda Tapley Steinberg of Statesboro; one son, Michael Quitman (Bonnie) Tapley of Swainsboro; five grandchildren, Michael Anthony “Andy” (Sara) Tapley, Tory Diane (James) Baker, Stephanie Connell (Brent) Fleming, Pamela Grace Hall, and Angela Carol (James) Weight; nine great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, and extended family.

   Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
