LaNelle Bishop Durden, 79

   Funeral services for LaNelle Bishop Durden, 79, of Twin City were held Friday, Nov. 24, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Twin City First Baptist Church with Rev. Gilbert Wommack officiating. Interment followed in the Bishop Chapel Church Cemetery. She died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2017.

   Mrs. LaNelle Bishop Durden was born January 24, 1938, in Millen to the late Jack Allen and Rubye Mulling Bishop, but she lived most of her life in Twin City. She was a homemaker, a licensed insurance agent with Durden Insurance Agency, and was a graduate of Tift College, receiving a degree in education. Durden was a member of Twin City First Baptist Church, and for more than 65 years, since the age of nine, served as an organist and pianist for many area churches. She was very active in numerous churches and civic organizations throughout the city, count,y and state. In addition to her parents, Durden was preceded in death by her husband, F. Dickson Durden.

   Survivors include one daughter, Disa D. (George) McCommon of Macon; one son, Dal D. (Windy) Durden of Swainsboro; three grandchildren, Maryanna D. (David) Jones, Miriam D. (Blake) Williams, and William McCommon; one great-grandchild, Dickson David Jones; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

   Pallbearers were G. W. Johnson, Wade Johnson, Tal Johnson, Phillip Rehberg, Brad Durden, Tommy Durden, and Ken Warnock.

   In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Bishop Chapel Church Cemetery Fund, C/O Barbara Stokes, 717 Ehrlich Farm Rd., Swainsboro, GA, 30401.

   Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors was in charge of arrangements.
