On October 30, 2017, Emanuel County Solicitor General J. Franklin Edenfield submitted to Governor Nathan Deal his letter of resignation from said capacity, which will become effective later this year, December 31.

“I have enjoyed serving the citizens of Emanuel County for the last twenty-plus years,” his letter reads. “However, as a wise man once said, ‘If it’s an obligation, I have served it, and if it’s an honor, it’s time for someone else to have it.’ In my opinion, it is an honor.”

In the interim, Governor Deal will appoint another solicitor general to serve the remainder of Edenfield’s term.
