Funeral services for James E. “Buddy” Wiggins, 72, of Statesboro were held Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Old Fellowship Baptist Church with Reverend Church Beaver, Reverend Reland Morgan, and Reverend Mel Shuman officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. He died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017.
Mr. James E. Wiggins was the foundation of his family. A loving and patient husband, father, papa, uncle, and friend. He was the leader of “the group” and found happiness and serenity in his family and God. The Emanuel County native was a resident of Savannah for 23 years before moving to Bulloch County in 1991. He was a member of Old Fellowship Baptist Church and the Buck Sherrod Sunday School Class in Stilson. Wiggins was the pattern shop supervisor and pattern maker at Ductile Iron Company (DICOA) in Savannah until its closure in 1986. He retired from Great Dane Trailers in 2007, after more than 20 years of service. Wiggins was proceeded in death by his parents, Elzy and Emma Lou Wiggins; sisters, Ruby Davis and Essie Mae Cochran; and brother, Lewis L. Wiggins.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Callie Woods Wiggins; children, Mike (Kellie) Wiggins, Angie (Charlie) Howell, and Pam (Thomas) Sullivan, all of Brooklet, and Delfina Reyes of Statesboro; grandchildren, Christina M. Wiggins, Tonya W. (Benjamin) Smith, Sara H. Berry, Casey W. (Chad) Hester, Brandon M. (Katlyn) Sullivan, Bradley J. Sullivan and Ashley Cartwright, Jimmy C. Howell and Kourney Smith, and Billy Howell; six great-grandchildren, Braydon, Addison, Asa, Ian, Emma, and Norah; sisters, Louise Neal and Betty Ellison, both of Twin City, and Mary (Charles) Johnson of Canoochee; two brothers, J.T. (Jackie) Wiggins of Pembroke and Charles Edward (JoAnn) Wiggins of Newnan.
Pallbearers were Brandon Sullivan, Bradley Sullivan, Jimmy Howell, Billy Howell, Benjamin Smith, Chad Hester, Dylan Moore, and Earl Slater.
