Calvary UMC recently completed its preserving for this year’s pumpkin patch. This community event is held annually at the church on South Main Street in Swainsboro.

With a little help from the next generation, Calvary will be able to offer its largest selection ever of preserved items in a jar. There will be preserves, jellies, and jams made from blackberry, blueberry, fig, muscadine grape, scuppernong grape, peach, and pear. Also offered will be pickles, relishes, and salsa. There will even be cake in a jar!

The patch will officially open on Saturday, Sept. 30, with Calvary’s fall festival from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. The bake sale will commence at 8 a.m. that morning, and there will be fun, free activities for children throughout the day. Concessions will be available as well.

The public is invited to spend a fun-filled Saturday with Calvary United Methodist. Through the pumpkin patch and bake sale, the church is able to support local charities such as the Herrington Homestead, The Sunshine House, and Weekend Blessings.
