   Funeral services for Shirley Ely, 81, of Dellwood will be held in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home at 3 p.m. Wednesday, August 30, 2017, with Reverend Morris Brantley and Reverend Arthur Conley officiating. Interment will follow in the Eastbrook Cemetery & Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 1 – 3 p.m. on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at Chapman Funeral Home. She passed away Sunday, August 27, 2017, at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Shirley Ely was born April 8, 1936, in Swainsboro to the late Willis E. Glisson and Lillian Perdue Glisson. She was a lifelong resident of Emanuel County. She loved fishing, planting flowers, and loved her family. Ely was a member of Holten Advent Christian Church for 20 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jerry Nunn; brothers, Tommy Glisson and Evans Glisson; and sister, Loree Brantley. Survivors include her husband, H.B. Ely of Swainsboro; sons, Wayne Nunn of Dunwoody and Tony (Jana) Nunn of Swainsboro; daughters, Joan (Steve) Achey of Ridgeville, S.C., June Johnson of Dellwood, Mary Ann (Morris) Brantley of Swainsboro, and Sybil Wilkerson of Swainsboro; step-son, Larry (Teresa) Ely of Swainsboro; step-daughters, Faye (Donald) Hall of Swainsboro, Deborah (Charles) Hadden of Swainsboro, Barbara (Earl) Shirey of Adrian, and Judy Jackson of Swainsboro; brother, Franklin (Jeanette) Glisson of Swainsboro; sisters, Wonnie (Duncan) Hutto of Neeses, S.C., and Toni (Steve) Mooney of New York; 24 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces, nephews, and friends. Pallbearers are Jason Fields, Adam Hopkins, Jimmy Johnson, Dustin Brantley, Jimmy Brantley, Marie Wilcox, and Donald Wilcox. Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro is in charge of the arrangements.
