Johnnie Sherrod Canady, 71

   Funeral services for Johnnie Sherrod Canady, 71, of Swainsboro were held Monday, July 3, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Rev. Eddie Hodges officiating, assisted by Rev. Buddy Morris and Rev. Steve Dowless. Interment followed in the Eastbrook Cemetery. She passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Cedar Plantation in Metter.

   Mrs. Johnnie Sherrod Canady was born January 12, 2017 in Emanuel County to the late Harvey and Lula Scott Sherrod. She retired from Argo Mills and later enjoyed many years working at Stewarts Jewelers. Canady was a member of Swainsboro Freewill Baptist Church, taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and loved listening to gospel music. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Margie Johnson, Mary Rich, and Lillian Hodges.

   Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Lavan “Pete” Canady of Swainsboro; one daughter, Becky Reed of Nashville, Tenn.; one son, Frank (Teah) Canady of Swainsboro; two sisters, Louise Barker of Millen and Janie S. Perkins of Waynesboro; one brother, Bobby Sherrod of Swainsboro; three grandchildren, Kala (Sam) Allmond, Kirstin Reed, and Alie Canady; one great-grandchild, Canady Cole Allmond; and nieces, nephews and extended family.

   Pallbearers were Jeff Lane, Derek Cooper, Bobby Frank Sherrod, Tim Coleman, Sam Allmond, and Tyler Hendley.

   Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors was in charge of arrangements.
