Altman named 2017 District Attorney of the Year

Hayward Altman, District Attorney for the Middle Judicial Circuit, was named District Attorney of the Year for 2017 on Sunday, July 16, during the Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council of Georgia’s (PAC) summer conference held on Jekyll Island.

Each year, the PAC recognizes exemplary leaders with a commendable amount of dedication to the field of prosecution.

It is a great honor to receive the District Attorney of the Year award,” said Altman. “I have to give kudos to my staff and my attorneys, but I also have to give credit to my family, especially my wife, and my faith in God. Those three allowed me to have the honor of receiving this award.”

He was nominated by Allen McCall, also of the Middle Judicial Circuit, who attended the conference and summarized the district attorney’s credentials.

Altman was elected into office only in 2009 but has been in service to the State of Georgia since 1987.
